Free sermons and illustration databases designed especially for Evangelical Christian workers |
To get the maximum benefit from the Kerux database, you should upgrade regularly.
There are different kinds of upgrades: some of them update the forms you use to
view the illustration/sermon records, others update the programming behind the
database, and others upgrade the illustrations and sermons themselves (in the
data tables). Updates to forms and data are the most common.
The best way to update your forms is to download the "Update to Combo Version" file in Section 1B at the database page. After you download it, open your regular database and click the Update button, highlighted below:

When you click the Update button, a pop-up box appears. Browse to find the correct update file and click "Open". The update will happen automatically. In the example below, I am updating my data with a supplement from 2007:

It is possible that users of older databases can update with the latest forms and the latest illustration records, but something seems wrong. Perhaps a field on a form has no data in it but this appears: #Name? This means the Table that is holding the data (illustrations or sermons) is missing a field. You can add these fields yourself by referring to the Help file. Go to the section Updates and Adding New Stuff and clicking on the page "Upgrading Tables in Your Database". (Many of the newer fields are not included in the supplement files so you are probably not missing any data.)
Data supplements are added to the website three or four times a year, and changes to the forms occur less frequently. It is never a bad idea to check the website.
