Backup Kerux

This option makes a backup of the content of your database.  Previous Access versions combined the engine and the data (illustrations and sermons) in a single file.  This version separates them into two files.   (Other files are also used for the program.)

The database engine file is called Kerux2010.accdb, or if you have the standalone version it is called Kerux2010.accdr.

The name of the data file is KeruxData.mdb (all Access databases end in ".mdb").  Almost all your work is contained in the data section and you want to protect this at all costs.  Databases can become corrupted; hard-drives can fail.  How many times has it happened to you?  Pastor Holwick has a program that might possibly repair a damaged database but there are no guarantees it will work.  The best safeguard is a consistent schedule of backups.

The Backup maintenance option will make a backup copy of the KeruxData.mdb file.  You can also use Windows Explorer to back up the Kerux directory to an external hard-drive or DVD.  I would highly recommend this.

If you are like me, you will invest a lot of time in this database.  Only you can protect this investment.  You have been warned.
