Installing the database

Those who own the Microsoft Access 2007 and 2010 program can open the database immediately.  Those who do not own it can install a free "runtime" version from Microsoft and then they can open the database.

Here is the process:

  1. Download and install the Microsoft Access runtime program:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=57a350cd-5250-4df6-bfd1-6ced700a6715&displaylang=en

If the first file listed (64-bit) doesn't work, try the next one (32-bit).

  2. After you install the runtime Access program and install the database, you will probably be told: A potential security concern has been identified and asked if you trust the source.  Click "open".  (Later you can designate C:\Kerux as a trusted location)

  3. An error message may pop up - a procedure call function is not working.  Close the error message.  We don't know what causes this error on some computers but the database seems to work correctly anyway.
