Pastor Holwick's 1,000+ Sermon Archive
(actually, it's at 1,135 right now)
My Windows helpfile version of the 1,000+ Sermon Archive contains over twenty years' worth of my preaching; I am even typing in my old hand-written sermons. I think the search abilities are very superior and you can add your own annotations. The file sets up automatically in a folder called "Kerux Sermon Archive" (Kerux means "Preacher" in Greek) in the Program Files directory. The new setup routine will give you the option of putting an icon on your desktop. You can also launch it from the Start menu by clicking on the filename. It requires Windows 95/98 (or more recent version) to operate and is actually a help-file. The size is 5.1 megabytes.

All of the sermon series below are included (some also appear on my web pages). It also contains other topical series and sermons for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and special occasions. This file is free as long as it is used for God's Glory and not for monetary profit.
My archive is expanding in both directions - I update it with current sermons, and add older hand-written sermons as my volunteers transcribe them. The older sermons are full-text and are incorporated with the others.
If you download this file please drop me an email me at dholwick@gmail.com. (Let me know where you are from and the type of church you have. This is for my own interest - I don't send you junk mail or give your address to anyone else.)
I use an old DOS outline program to compose my sermons. I find that outlining is much more efficient than word-for-word composition and allows my thoughts to flow smoothly. David Cambridge in England has developed a free outline program that works with Microsoft Word. You can download it at www.sermonoutliner.net (if you install it and don't like it, remove it by opening Windows Explorer, find the Office directory - probably in Program Files - go to the Startup directory, and remove the outliner file.)

If you like my Win98 sermon archive you will probably like my Illustration Archive for Windows 95/98 that is based on the help file system. It is "stand-alone" and free, like everything else I offer. Many of the illustrations scattered through my sermons are archived here and can be found with indexes or powerful searches. You can go to the download page
here. Much better than the illustration archive above is the Kerux Database with tens of thousands of illustrations and sermons. A generic version called SID can be used by anybody. It is freeware that can be downloaded here. |
| What to make your own sermon archive? I give advice and program locations here. It is easier than you think and you will be able to share with others, and you will refer to it yourself quite often. |
